Company Staff Summary Bios of our Consultants

Along with Kevin Berry, Rich VanLieshout formed Creative Engineers in 1996 with three objectives:

*

Bring some creativity and a fresh approach to process and project engineering in the chemical industry

*

Get back to doing the type of work they enjoy solving real world processing problems

*

hire only engineers with considerable experience in daily plant operations

Rich VanLieshout | Project Manager Consultant (resume in MS Word); Project Manager Consultant (resume on web page)

Rich has worked in the chemical industry for more than 22 years. Functional areas of involvement include: Process Engineering, Project Engineering, Maintenance, Product Development, Operations, EH&S and Plant Management. Specific industries have included plastics, pigments, specialty chemicals, specialty metals, and environmental remediation. Rich’s very broad background is his greatest strength in bringing new ideas to the table and questioning the status quo. To go along with the lessons of real world chemical manufacturing, Rich has a degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA. (Yes it is amazing, an ME that can do process design.)

Kevin Berry, PE | Technical Manager Consultant (resume in MS Word); Technical Manager Consultant (resume on web page)

Kevin Berry has turned himself into an expert in the handling and use of alkali metals. With 25 years experience handling sodium, potassium and NaK. Kevin may just be the most experienced person available to assist in this very specialized area of chemical processing. Having worked with many different unit ops, Kevin also has a great deal of experience in the area of specialty chemical batch processing. Strong powers of observation have enabled Kevin to quickly spot areas of improvement for many clients. Kevin is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and has a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh (which we do not hold against him).

Chad A. Bohannon | Chemical Engineer Consultant (resume in MS Word); Chemical Engineer Consultant (resume on web page)

Chad A. Bohannon, EIT, is a chemical engineer (BS, University of Pittsburgh, 2000) and chemist (BS, Gannon University, 2001) with four years experience in chemical production, operation of specialty batch processes, waste handling, and design and operation of alkali metal handling and reduction systems used in the chemical and nuclear industries. Chad joined the company after completing his dual degree and a coop program at a specialty chemical manufacturing plant. He has been a tremendous asset to the company with a sharp mind, strong back, and good nature. Could he be the future president of Creative Engineers?

Robert A. Wagner | Mechanical Engineer Consultant (resume in MS Word); Mechanical Engineer Consultant (resume on web page)

Robert Wagner brings many skills gained during his 28+ years of experience in diverse manufacturing industries, including specialty chemicals, specialty metals, textile fibers, pigments, and glass. Rob has extensive background in project engineering, project management, automation, plant engineering, and maintenance. With a BSME from the University of South Florida, Rob complements the ChemE’s in the company and will provide increased ability in the areas of mechanical design and implementation. Previous experience with sodium and NaK is another reason Rob is a natural fit with CEI.

Gregory P. Flinn | Automation Engineer Consultant (resume in MS Word); Automation Engineer Consultant (resume on web page)

Greg Flinn is the newest Creative Engineer. Greg has worked in the chemical and energetics industries for 16 years, spending most of that time involved with process control, PLCs, and other computer platforms. Greg is experienced in power distribution as well. Greg’s main role at CEI is to increase our capability for constructing skid-mounted systems, but he has many talents. Process-hazard analysis is another area in which Greg has formal training and is able to help our clients comply with the OSHA Process Safety Management standard. In his spare time, Greg enjoys woodwork and rebuilding his older house.

Nathan Elkin, Chemical Engineer Consultant

Nathan is the most recent addition to the Creative Engineers’ staff. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in May of 2005, Nathan began his professional career with International Waxes, Inc in western Pennsylvania. Since joining CEI in October 2007, Nathan has been gaining experience working with alkali metals and enhancing his AutoCAD capabilities. He has become quite proficient at generating P&IDs quickly.
