Creative Engineers, Inc. (CEI) recently completed a custom training and demonstration class for a group from CSIR South Africa. In addition to learning about Alkali metal properties, safety, hazards, spill cleanup, and other hands-on activities, CEI demonstrated a liquid-metal Electro-Magnetic pump. We used our four-stage DC EM Pump to demonstrate a liquid metal system utilizing supply tank, return tank, and other devices including DC power supplies able to produce up to 850 amps to power the pump for the desired flow rate.

Thank you to all our class attendees for the September 2017 Alkali Metals Safety Training class! We had a great turn out from many different countries. We learned about the hazards associated with handling and using Alkali metals, as well as proper PPE, spill control techniques, and first aid. We discussed design approaches for buildings, systems, and equipment. We learned how to contain or extinguish a metal fire and had hands-on training. We also practiced safe techniques for small spill cleanup.

Alex is a graduate of NC State, with experience in the automotive field at both BMW and Honda. He has also worked at CEI as a co-op and knows the business, allowing him to come up to speed and be an immediate contributor to on-going projects. Alex is part of our expansion in the Greenville SC/Charlotte NC area where we are establishing a permanent presence to better service our customers in the region.
